I kept the stocker frame, but cut all of the nonsense off of it before I had it powdercoated with Lonestar's "Silver Vein."

Lonestar Racing, in Phoenix, Arizona, took four months to complete this project. They removed every part and replaced most with aftermarket products.

I put a +2 axle, +2 swingarm, +2+2 a-arms (all chromed), Ohlin shocks all around, Douglas "Ultimate" wheels, holeshots, Lonestar bumpers, Sidewinder chain and rear sprocket (both, anodized blue), Motion-Pro steel braided cables all around and Lonestar Brake Rotors (all around).

The engine was completely rebuilt by K and T Performance in Roy Utah. It was bored, ported, polished and finished with Wiseco Pro-Lite Pistons, Pro-Design Coolhead with 18cc domes and a Barnett Clutch kit. The Crankshaft was welded and trued, the Case ported to match the cylinders and the Flywheel lightened. The exterior of the case, cylinders, radiator, etc., have been polished to match the rest of the chrome on the bike.

The carburetor setup includes a set of 35mm Air Strykerds, K & N Filters and matching blue Shockwears filter covers. The pipes are Paul Tuner Hi-Rev’s with Fat Boy Silencers.

The Stator was re-wound by Ricky Stator and 7” Round PIAA lights were chromed and installed, T.M. Designworks Rear “Zero Drag” Chain Guide and Blue Anodized Rear Brake Cylinder, Wildskins Pads, and a custom designed Jet-Trim “Bitchin’ Stichin’” Seatcover.

Everything on the quad has been polished or chromed. Additionally, about the only OEM parts remaining are the plastic (new), engine case and radiator. Most everything else is from Lonestar Racing, Cascade Innovations, Duncan, etc.

I have had a lot of fun setting this thing up, but it cost tons of $$$. I'm not sure I would do it again!

Thanks for the info. That is about what I was thinking of doing to the suspension. What do you mean by nonsence on the frame? What can be removed? It sounds like you have a lot more motor than I would want.

Considering that the Yamaha 426 has about 42? horsepower, the new 660 should have 55 in a mild state of tune. The antique LT500's should run with them stock (assuming the LT is completely perfect, motor wise). Modded DS-650'S and Banshee's should run with it then. The 12 year old fart (250r) will have to have a head start and the new 400ex will also in any modified form. But, of course, it all depends on the power output of the new beast.

I think you might be missing the point of comparing anything to a 250r. It was not the fastest in a drag race, it was/isfastest around a motocross course. That is because it had the best chassis of any quad ever produced. It just handled better that any thing else out there. It also had the best brakes, which are still setting the standard today. The only machine to ever come with twin piston calipers front and rear.(I may be mistaken, but I know 250r brakes were the best) Power is nothing without control. I think the Raptor is more sport and trail oriented. If anybody is going to build the ultimate racer, then it will have to be light so that it can corner and stop very well. Are the new generation of big machines capable, yes, but still behind the 250r in handling and braking.

I am going to buy this winter or spring a Raptor,Cannondale or find a 250r and build it. I would be very interested if any one could dig up specs. of an old original 250r weight, length, width ect. The Cannondale seems to be the closes to the 250r's diminsions just scared of the first year the company ever built a quad.

jad.
