How is the raptor goin to keep gas in it. With twin 33 carbs and only a 3.6 gallon tank thats not very much. My scrambler has 1 40 carb with a 3.5 gallon tank and i think it uses alot of gas. But the raptor has a total of 66 thats a lot more gas. i maybe wrong so if i am some one fix me.

Your math is FLAWED.

You're comparing 66mm to 40mm, which would mean that 2 33s are 61% larger than a single 40mm carb.

remember when figuring out the volume of a circle it's radius square * pi

So a single 40: 20 squared is 400 * 3.1415 =1256.6

A single 33 would be: 16.5 squared is 272.25 * 3.1415 = 855.2

So 2 33 carbs = 1710.4

IE: 2 33 carbs is only 37% larger than a single 40

Yes, it will eat more gas, but then again it's a lot larger engine. 32% larger, with 37% more carb. The raptor has 5 valves, IE better air and gas flow, so this equation is about right.

Yes it will eat more gas, but not as much as you stated.

Just my $.02

you mean a circle's AREA. cicrles are not represented with measures of VOLUME.

just my $0.02

Fakie.. you are RIGHT, I should have stated AREA and not volume, but the AREA of a circle opening will be directly proporational to the volume of air/gas that can fit through said pipe.

Just my $.02

enough math! I thought this forum was for fun?

anyways on to gas consumption. It will probably use a lot of gas. But probably not anymore than my old 87 TRX250 used to! If i held it wide open for 75% of the time i could get 20 miles out of a tank!

And I don't think he meant 66% larger. I think he meant it's 66mm altogether 33+33(seems reasonable) and his carb is only 40 and it uses a lot. But that's just what i think.

Guys don't forget that the Raptor is a four stroke. The tank time should be longer than the two strokes with the same size tank. I can get around 2 hours of riding on my Banshee per tank. I know of some smaller four stroke bikes that can run all day on a tank. You do have to trade off something for proformance.

Think about it this way..

2 26mm carbs on a banshee is equal to one 36mm. (hence the reason alot of people run a single 38mm, for just that extra kick)

You can't add diameters of a circle and think it's the same, it just doesn't work, the math doesn't support it.

You have to figure out the squared mm of the circle, then add those totals up, to do comparisions.

2 33mm carbs is about the same as a 47mm single carb.

And yes as previously stated 4 strokes on the whole use less gas then a 2 stroke, but per CC 2 strokes make more power (generally speaking anyway), hence the reason this is such a large 4 stroke. (when compared to other ATVs)

But this is a 660cc with 2 33mm carbs, it's gonna eat gas, no doubt about it.

And anyway,

pi r square isn't correct.

pi r round, brownies r square.
