For now, I will run gas, naturally aspirated. When the turbo goes on, there is no question that it will be on methanol although I don't look forward to the **** poor fuel economy with methanol.

 

Who are you kidding, you aren't building that motor for FUEL ECONOMY.

Believe it or not, fuel economy is an important issue. My group dunes out to many of the other hills @ Glamis, other than Olds and it will definately take somewhat decent fuel economy to do that.

 

Fuel economy AND power...if you get it right on those two, you really have a product.

 

A well engineered turbo system can actually give you economy for low speed or cruising speed situations and big time power when you need it.

 

Hey, I drive an F250 with a turbo diesel, so say no more. I get better milage than the same truck with a 351 and way more power. I love the sound of a turbo when it spins up.

 

Do you expect the EFI to give you a power gain, how much do you figure? Man 120 horses LOL the front end on a raptor wont stay down with 40 so good luck [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

There are a couple of ways the EFI may pick up more HP versus the stock carbs. One way in which I might see improvements with the EFI is if I was starving the engine for air through the stock carbs in which the larger EFI throttle body would flow better and pick up more peak hp. The other way EFI might make more HP than a carb setup would be if the carbs just weren't tuned properly and the additional or more accurate fuel control of EFI would dial in the bike better. My motivation for doing the EFI was not for any of the above reasons. The EFI will provide the fuel and ignition control that is critical when going to forced induction. The foundation is set!!
