Default Thinking about getting a raptor

I love my 02 Raptor, although the tranny blew on mine. I have heard of starter problems although I havent had any. It is an extreemly fun
machine to ride, highly recommended, 02 and beyond.

Well I hate to burst your "friends" bubble but a 2003 stock 660 Raptor push 36-37 HP's and is probably the fastest "stock" quad besides the LT500 Quadzilla ever made!!!

ds and kfx700 are faster, but ds is only good for going in a straight line and kfx700 is automatic and is a tank

IMO every quad and dirtbike is expensive to modify. but that the price you pay to play. I love my raptor. except for the one way. and every stat i've seen has the raptor rated about 36 hp stock. the 400ex is 28 or 29. I used to have one. nice quad but pretty slow.

Raptor all the way!! The correct stock hp is around 37 to 38 as others have already stated. Uncorking the machine will cost somewhere between $500 and $600 for basic K&N, jets, and pipe and will easily put the machine in the low to mid 40's range. I have an 04' that I just uncorked and if it had wings it would fly. Those that bag on these machines typically don't own one and have been blow off the trail by one so I wouldn't listen to anyone who has never had one. Yes they are a little tippy, but the more you ride the more you learn to control that....it really isn't that bad.
