Default Thinking about getting a raptor

I was thinking of getting a brand new raptor as a third quad, I have heard about trany probs are they fixed for this year? I also heard that its hard to get lots of power out of them "my friend" said that they only make like 28hp stock and i would have to spend lots of money to get any extra hp out of it, is that true?
I would like to know all the goods and bads befour i buy...

Thanks,
Trailrider

28hp? I think it's more then that, good bit more actually.

The tranny problems were fixed in 02 I think, it was only the 01 (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

As far as getting more power, from what I read here, a pipe/jet/filter will "uncork" the power of the Rappy, which I plan on doing next summer.

I love mine. It is fun, fast, fun, does well on the trail, fun and did I mention fun?

The only bad thing I can think of is it sits kind tall, and I can't seem to throw it around as easily as other bikes I've had.

Have you looked at the new 450? It doesn't have reverse, but other then that, it seems to be pretty hardcore bike!

Yeah I think your friend was definetly a little off when it comes to his HP numbers and the point that it takes a lot of money to get more power. Maybe he was referring to the 400EX.hahaha But yeah I have had my Raptor for about six months now and I still love riding it. Its a lot better than my Warrior was.

Get the Raptor, you will never regret it. Learn to ride it befor you start knocking it for being top heavy. It's power is only limited to how much you want to spend.
