definately go with the 26 series i put 26 10-12 front and 26 12-12 rear on my 03 Grizzly and now it rides great and pulls like mad across or through anything. it did take some of the big bottom end hit out of the grizz but barely noticable.

I sometimes forget this. Is it the larger the tire is, the lower the gearing is or is it the other way around? Where I ride, low end torque is big.

I just got an 04 grizzly and put ITP C-series with 25" ITP 589's. They give it slightly wider stance. Luv Um. They look awsome. Got um on Ebay for 564.00 delivered. No lose of power. No change in speedometer and milage. I just don't see were putting 27 will get you through more mud. That would only be 1" more ground clearance. If I get stuck I probably shouldn't have been there anyway. LOL That only my 2 cents. " No offence 27" guys. "

Since mud riding is something little that I do and hillclimbs and fast trail riding are my thing, I will be putting the stock tire size on my machine because I don't want any power loss. When I owned the prairie, the C-Series with ATR holeshots and 25" combination did just fine for me.
But I may go with the mudlites. How do these tires hold up to hard pack, and fast trail riding?

27" 589's -- 9's on the front and 11's on the back on my Stock rims with """No rubbing""". I have black stock rims on my camo unit and bought a set of silver rims from a friend and put my stock tires on that rim set. Stay with stock rims and save your $$$ for a winch or brush guard unit.
If I could pick only one set of tires for my Grizzly if I was trail and mud ridding I would go with 27" Mud-lites, but with two sets I can swp out after dear season ends. The Mud-lites come in 10's for the front and 12's for the rear and will fit stock rims also.
I will own a set of 27" Mud-lites after deer season. Ain't got no money right now.
DO NOT BUY 25's FOR YOUR GRIZZLY - GO WITH AT LEAST 26" or 27" TIRES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also, if you put them side by side, the diff in 26 &27 or 27 & 28 is marginal

I have to agree with Kraw on that. The laws of physics just make sense sometimes. Of course even with the stock tires, the wider 12" rear is going to make your quad a little wider in stance, thus giving you a little added stability to offset the height.
Now if you put aftermarket rims on with taller tires, the offset of the wheels will make your quad more stable than stock, even with the higher center of gravity. Wider is better! Or at least with a Pontiac or something.

Kraw and Andy - I will have to retract my earlier "stupid" statment related to the 25's. You guys are right. The difference between the 25's and 27's is not that much. Also - what I did find is that my tire pressure was 14 lbs. in each tire and that is why I was feeling unstable. Just dismounted and remounted my stock tires and put 5lbs in each. Guy that was swapping tires and rims told me that 14lbs is the reason my 660 felt so top nimble.
