Default Bent Valve

Well, I stripped my Raptor down and pulled the motor out and apart last week and found that the center intake valve is bent. Has this happened to anyone else here?

Anyways, I sent out the cylinder to be bored out to 102mm. I will be fitting in a JE 12:1 piston. Are any of you guys running this piston with a stock connecting rod?

I really don't want to split the cases to to have a Carillo installed, but I don't want to grenade my motor either.

Input will be greatly appreciated.

I have not heard of a center intake valve bending with a stock piston. Check the connecting rod for roundness where the wrist pin slides into. My stock rod was .005 out of round, time for the Carrillo rod!!!

But for safe insurance install the carrillo rod and have it balanced. Give Bob Craycraft a call on the info. 817-441-5893

Thanks for the reply Ernie. I never thought of checking the the wrist pin end of the connecting rod for roundness. That'll be the next thing on the "to do " list.

Anyone else have any experience with a 12:1 piston on stock rod?

I'm running the stock rod with the 12:1 JE and Hotcams Stage 2. While I worry about it failing, I haven't had a single problem with the build.

How many realistic hours are on the build? It seems we have the majority of decent Raptor buildups sitting in the garage looking like new.

A little more than 40 gallons of race gas since I put it together in May. Probably lost a gallon of that fooling with the stock carbs:-) It uses one tank of gas during one day of MX or half a tank during a 2-3 hour trail ride. Mine is pretty close to a garage queen lately, striper season opened the beginning of Oct.

I have been running a 10.75/1 JE and a stage 1 hotcam and ride mine every weekend barring mechanical trouble. I am actually thinking about going too a stage 2 hotcam + springs and a 12/1 JE.
