Default Wolverine 424 Select

The Warn 424 select is a compact, one piece unit that takes the place of the front drive shaft and allows you to dis-engage or re-engage drive to the front wheels...putting in in 2-wheel drive or back to 4-wheel drive. This is accomplished with a cable that you mount in an easily accessed location. I mounted mine on the left side, about even with the handlebar.

If you do any moderate wrenching of your own, the unit is pretty easy to intall in a couple of hours.

Talk about turning an already FUN machine into a BLAST to ride. It is the best $275 I have spent on it so far (well, between it and the HMF slip-on...I guess it would be a toss up).

I bought my warn 424 directly from the guy on ebay for $210 shipped. It was about the best money I have spent on the wolverine yet. The supertrapp was next, it really pepped it up. I would not recommend the dial a jet unless your looking for the ease of changing jetting like for mountain riding. It does not really do anything for the performance as they claim. Just my experience.

Shastadog. I love my FMF megamax on my wolverine I highly reccomend it. the disk setup is nice cause when im open i run it with 11 disks and if its muddy tight i run it 9 or 10 disks for a little better low end grunt. that with a K&N and some holes in the airbox lid was like night and day to the engine. the 424 select is probably the best thing to buy for it ever. I also like the Highlifter dimondplate aluminum skids/guards. I have them and they are tough as can be

Has anyone used the 424 during a race and how did it hold up?

I don't race so I really can't answer you question. But I can tell ya a couple of things about the 424. The shaft itself is made of better steel than the factory one. My factory one was worn, due to bad u-joints The splines were worn badly on my factory driveshaft that it wobbled in the yolks on either end. So the better made shaft was welcomed by me. The body of this unit looks to made of aluminum. It seems to be strongly built with seals around the shafts to keep the mud out. It has an anti rotation strap on the end toward the engine. It is made with a rubber strap and mounting hardware. The rubber strap seems to be the weakest part. It is a little thin and mine is showing some wear after about 6 monthes. This would be easily beefed up. In my plans I am adding a thicker rubber strap. The cable that runs to the handle seems to be heavy duty, similar to the type that is used on heavy trucks for their PTO engagement.
All and all it seems to be very soilidly made and I don't see it being to weak for racing. Warn has a lot of expereince with small gears and such with their winches. That helped me choose their product.

Grimmsniper - so did you go ahead and go with the 435 stroker kit? If so, how do you like it?

SpDdEmOn- my engine is still at FST, but as soon as i get it back i will definitely let you know !! I took my engine up and dropped it off, mickey was a pleasure to deal with, the man is impressive with his knowledge, when i go back im taking a notebook, LOL. Have you decided to try one of Koontz's races this year?

Bri7070- the highlifter unlocker linkage is not real reliable, it has a plastic shift block that moves the shift ring from 2x4 to 4x4 and mine will pop off the shift ring when im in 4x4 and really getin' on it. but other than that ive had no problems with it.

DG makes a Xccelerator exhaust for the Wolverine and Warrior they retail for around 314.00 that is with a spark arrestor . I have used the DG Xccelerator on several other quads and they work great. As for the jet kits they are not worth it.
