Default Wolverine 424 Select

I just installed a Warn 424 Select on my 95 Wolverine. I can`t seem to get it to disengage from the 4X4 mode. Any suggestions would be a great help.

Mine kinda done the same thing when I first put it on. I adjusted the cable per instructions still had trouble. I just hadn't been pulling it out far enough. I finally figured it out after I took the end of the cable apart when I didnt have to. There's a tiny ball bearing in that cable that locks the **** in 4x2 and when you push the red **** it releases it. I've found that mine goes in to 4x2 beetter with the machine rolling a little. I wasn't pulling hard enough at first. Try it with your machine rolling a little and give it a good solid pull back 3-4 inches. Let us know how it does. Oh by the way welcome to the site

I too went through the same thing on my 2001 Wolv.

I talked to Warn and they called this Axle Wind or something similar (I can't remember for sure). They assured me this was not a problem with the unit. There are a couple of things to watch for:

-If the adjuster is threaded too far out, the ball will never engage because the innards are already in position.

-If the adjuster screwed too far in, you may not get enough cable pulled before the ball engages and you will here a clicking sound from the 424 unit. This is NOT good.
You can put the front end on jack stands spin a front tire and see what I am talking about.

Mine likes to be under a slight throttle load to engage in 4 x 2, which is what you would want anyway.

Did ya get it working there Dawheeler? Let us know.
Has anybodys rubber anti-rotation strap ever broke? Mine looks like its going to wear into before long.
I'm gonna find a thicker piece of rubber to replace it with before it breaks out in the hills.

I read somewhere on here or another forum where a guy had the clamp come off. According to him, it was not pretty. It ripped the cable out and he had to send it back to Warn to get repaired. $100 + rings a bell. I have been looking at the bolts / nuts, but haven't paid much attention to the strap itself. I will have to take a closer look after washing it each time. If I find that post, I will let you guys know where it was.

Yeah Lotus the 424 has a rubber strap that lets the unit rotate a little. I guess its to let the pressure off to let it shift. I beleive I'm gonna change mine and put a peice of belt line in. Belt line is hillbilly for rubber conveyor belt, good for lots of stuff. Some of it can be as thick as 1/4 inch that oughta hold.
