No they didn't say but you can tell just by looking at it. That's why I thought it was so weird when he said it was the shock at first. I use ratchet tie downs with my 250r but the Kodiak is a tight fit in the back of my truck so I just put it in park and go.

Will do. I probably won't find out for a while though. They told me if I needed it for the weekend I could come and get and use it as it is. So I guess that means I won't have it back by then. I'm hoping I'll get it back some time next week.

Well I just got off the phone with the service guy at my dealer. Now I'm pissed to say the least. He told me the swingarms are on back order and it could be the end of December before they get them. Then he was saying something about cutting bushings out because they are pressed in so tight they can't get them out. Also I found out that they have 3 others besides mine in there right now for the same thing. Yamaha claims they don't have a problem though. Surprise surprise. I seem to remember someone else saying that they claimed that about their 2003 frame problems. The service guy even said he got one of the swingarms for someone elses in and compared it to the original. He said the new one had some extra welding and such and looked a little beefier than the original. Well if there was no problem Yamaha then why did you change it. And I suppose since they are claiming there is no problem they are going to try to stick me with the bill. God I really wish I had bought something else. I won't ever buy a Yamaha again.

i think it is because the shock on the back is a little off center and to the left so the right side is lower. The middle where the shock usually is, is where the shaft is. i measured that out on my dads kodiak. It was about an inch or so lower.

I looked at them on the showroom floor and they don't lean.

I drove the new 03 my friend received as a replacment this weekend deer hunting in WS and checked it thoroughly while loading it and there is no lean. It now has approximately 35 hours and 320 miles on it. I've put most of those 320 miles on it riding the trails in WS near Danbury and Clark county.

It very well could be a poor swing arm. I would call Corporate Yamaha customer service and ask them if the swing arm has had any changes and if it is really on back order.

corporate Yamaha customer service number is: 1 800 962-7926 (good luck getting thru)
or direct at 714 761-7435

have your serial number and find out if the dealer really entered a claim with Yamaha.

Let me know what you find out.
