03 Kodiak Boggs out in Reverse??!!
Ok, do a test. you should be able to back up without it bogging. What should happen is this. As you get faster and faster in reverse your engine will rev up. At some point ( i think between 5 and 10 mph), the engine should start stuttering and skipping. If this is what you call bogging, this is normal. It is the rev limiter kicking in to protect you from yourself and Yamaha from lawsuits. Here is the fix.
If you take the left side panel off of the Kodiak you will see some wiring harnesses. One of those is a three wire harness that has one wire that is green with a white stripe. This green/white wire is the reverse limiter and reverse light wire.
To disengage the reverse rev limiter you need to ground this wire. The best way to do this is to splice a wire into this wire and run it to a toggle switch and hook the other side of the toggle switch to a wire that is grounded to the frame. The reason to run it to a switch is two fold. First, grounding the wire will stop the reverse light from working. Second, in most situations, you dont need full power in reverse and someone inexperieced might be on your quad and get hurt.
