Default Carb options for a mild 686?

Craycraft offers a modded stock carb that works very well, I don't know of the price for the mod. You will have to contact him and ask him.

Raptor03- You better run more than 100 octane. I would say 104 or better. You got lucky with that little hole. If your piston gernades...... remember to look next time you sit on the raptor what is below your nuts....error on the safe side 107 octane.

Dfitz- you should check into more fuel flow. Bob at Craycraft is the only guy that i know is modding the stock carbs. You should be mixing race gas with super unleaded at the least. You can probably get by with super unleaded on trail rides but when you hit the strip or tall hills put the good stuff in.

RACE GAS- If you use 5 gallons of fuel on a week end the $ difference is not that much. Super unleaded 1.75 gallon vs. race fuel at 4.25 a gallon. That would be about 12.00 dollars more for more fun. Make your old lady do with out a nail manicure on the weeks you plan to ride

Now if I go with a mix or race fuel what do I have to change ( jetting, spark plug, etc)??? The bike runs really strong now, I had the best time running Patton this last weekend. Would it run better or just last longer or both. Dang these things you put money in it runs faster. But then all you think about is now if I add this what will I have.

Dfitz- It would run better on a mix or 107. I would try it for sure. Better to be safe than sorry

Timing is funny.

I am going to start running race gas in all the quads (especially now that my DS is 12.5:1 compression (Wife's is 11:1 mild 686).

I just got off the phone with my gas guy and he can get me a 55 gallon drum for $4/gallon + tax or if I buy 4 at a time, he'll sell me the 5 gallon tins for $6/gallon + tax. That's in California.

You need to find one of the gas & oil wholesalers (this one is right next to our trailer storage yard and is a cardlock place also.)

I would think prices would be much less in Texas!

Okay I talked to the guy that did my upgrades. I told him I'm concerned about what I have heard that running 91 octane would or could burn a hole in my piston. He said that the bikes he has done have not a problem and would behind his work (great guy). But that if I did run a mix to bring the octane up that it would run better and it would run cooler. D@#N it now I have to find the best price of racing fuel to mix. What are you suppose to do when you hear run better, run faster, more HP, more Torgue, it's just not fair.

111 leaded = $4.50
113 leaded = $5.50
118 leaded = $7.25
101 Unlead = $4.50
105 Unlead = $6.50

I also get Unocal 110 for $6.50 in a metal can
and Unocal 100 from the pump for $5

the 111 mixed with 91 works good

but now I am just going to get a 55 drum of 101
