First ride in snow with YFZ450
Well I live in Ontario and it snowed today for the first time this year. About 5 inches. So it was the perfect time to try my 450. My set up is all stock except for the baffel removed and my blaster 22 inch tires/rims/hubs. The tires are c 828. I like them because they have good traction in snow and they actually gain height with speed. Anyways I rode with my friend who has a 2003 LE Raptor and it was a blast. We rode for about 3 hours in snow and water which turned the quads into ice cubes lol. We managed to chip away enough ice to get the quads rolling. The 450 ran great with tons of power to roost. Only thing was that the header pipe turned red and there was a build-up of ice near my rear brake pedal wich made it impossible to use. The 450 is very stable in fields wit water spots. I hit a few in 4 th grear wich almost sent me flying (it would have if I had the blaster). The Raptor ran just as great except it flipped 3 times. Once when it hit the same water spot I did and then 2 other times. The only thing that broke was a headlight bracket. I'm glade I got the 450 instead cz its a litle more stable but those Raptors are friggin tuff! I've seen it take major flips and hits and it barely has a scratch. Well thats it, I cant wait for more snow to go riding in the groomed trails near my house.
