YFZ450 Vs Raptor
How do. I currently have a Yamaha Blaster and am looking to upgrade to a bigger bike now Ive got the hang of it. I was initially looking to go straight upto the Raptor but whilst at my local Yamaha dealer I noticed the new YFZ450 which my dealer has said is a much better bet than the Raptor, as its power is more usable and generally a lot better than the Raptor. The only thing is the 450costs around £1,000 more than the Raptor. Whats peoples opinion on the 2? Is it worth spending the extra money on the 450 (as with most things the mind is saying why pay more for a smaller CC bike). As yet I havent riden either but should be getting a ride on both in the next week or so. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

they are both good quads. test drive both. It all depends on your size, what kind of rider you are, and how you will be riding the machine.
the YFZ is newer so if there are any problems, it will take a few years to work them out. The raptor has been around for a few years now and most problems have been worked out. The YFZ is lighter, but also quite a bit smaller, so if your a bigger guy, you would like the extra cc's to push you around on the raptor. JMO like i said, just try them both you, one of them will stand out as your choice. they are both yamahas so you cant go wrong with that good luck

it all depends on what kinda of riding your gonna do.. trail rides or anything with length you will probably want the raptor due to the 450's seat being hard as a rock and the raptor having reverse and a softer suspension. if your gonna ride on a track then a 450 is what you need.

i currently own both. the raptor is by far a funner (is that a word) quad to ride. it wheelies easy. has tons of torque, reverse. and is as fast as a stock yfz. the only reason i bought a yfz is because i race xc and after 2 years racing/riding the raptor. i'm looking for something that handles a little better and won't tire me out as much since our races are 2 hours long.
btw, i have a sweet 02 raptor w/ yoshi/works/lsr axle/burgard stem. for 4200.00 will ship if interested.lots of pice also.

I'd like to hear your opinion when you get the pipe on, lid off and rejet your YFZ.. Mine was about 5 to 6 lengths faster than a stock YFZ by the time I hit 5th gear.
