I have learned that the best resource on any consumer purchase comes from the actual owners of that item. I am considering replacing a ’98 Honda TRX300 4x4 with a 2001 Kodiak. My questions are these, 1. What changes if any are new for the ’01 Kodiak and 2. What has been your ownership experience, good or bad with your ’00 or ’01 Kodiak? I am not so much looking to compare the Honda against the Kodiak, as I want opinions on the quality and performance of the Kodiak, more or less just an opinion poll. Any pricing information would be helpful too.

I don't know what changes are coming out for the Kodiak, but the MSRP (2000 models) is $6099.

It was my second choice when I purchased my quads in March. However, next year when my wife moves up from her 2wd to my 4wd, my next quad is going to be a 2001 Kodiak. You can get one for around $5500-5600 on special up here in the North West.

You will love this machine! Maybe Yamaha will make the Kodiak in blue, my favorite color.

I have not seen or heard of the 2001 Kodiac being available in blue. Can you inform me where and when you can get or see such a machine. Thanks

I don't think they even changed the 2001 Kodiaks from last year... You can't Fix Perfection As far a blue goes...
Here, see one for yourself! Mine is blue , and I love it! But Like the Alpine commercial says, "You gotta live here ta get it". (Canada that is)

You have a great looking bike. I live in Utah and here they do not have blue as a option for us. Would you mind telling me where you were able to purchase the blue and the cost. Thank You

You will love the Kodiak. If you get one in Quebec it will have a brake light.

Kerplunk, that is one nice looking Kodiak!

Why does Yamaha not sell the blue Kodiak in the states?

Do you know if there are any problems in bringing a quad back into the states?

Thanks, I appreciate it! I bought mine at McLean Sports in Fredericton, N.B. But I do know of a closer dealer to the U.S., it's in ST. Stephen, N.B.(sorry, don't remember the dealer name right now) He sells a lot of bikes to people from the states and I don't think its any problem at all.. Plus the exchange rate is like 47% so you'll get a great deal. I paid $7995canadian (before tax 15%) around march so maybe they've come down since then.. at the time it came with a free warn 2000lbs winch and i got all accesories at cost price.. unfortunatly every single dealer i went to would not come down on the bike it self.. Don't forget in Canada you get a speedometer also, I think it's law.

The name of that dealer is ST.Stephen Sports Center, if anyone wants the # let me know ST.Stephen borders Maine by the way..

thats a great looking bike in blue. I bought a Red 00' last august. In the US the only changes I have seen is the standard speedo and grey not black wheels for 01' I had to buy the OEM speedo for mine through Yamaha and waited from last august to just 2 weeks ago to get it. I hope it is calibrated right I can only get 54mph out of it and thats only when going down hill. I always thought the bike was faster than that. if anyone knows what top speed they are getting from 00' kodiaks i would appreciate the input. thanks
