Blaster Owner looking advice
#1
Hi. I recently bought a 2003 Blaster. I love it, great for trail riding, and just fun in general. I am getting used to power of it now, so I am looking to mod it up a little. I thought about getting a complete .04 bore kit off of ebay, considering they are extremely cheap on there. Also what about a bigger carb then the stock 26mm? What are some good sites on the net to get parts for blasters. Lastly, I love the look of the flat track tires, has anyone replaced the stock rims/tires off of there blaster and have some pics of them? What about wheel spacers, I think a 2-3" would be fine, except I think it might throw the geometry of the front off a little. Thanks for all the advice.

id get a 240 kit if your gonna go any bigger.. if you dont have a pipe get one.. i think every1 will say a toomey for a blaster..
i hate wheel spacers... break and bend stuff easy that way...
flat track tires are good for only that.. you wont go any where with them on trails or sand..

but any tires you put on there will be better than the stock ballons. first get a pipe and a 30mm carb. if you need more go with vito's 240 kit. go the google and put in vito + atv and find his site. lots of good stuff on there for the blaster.

The best possible way to increase a blasters preformance is a pipe, porting and better intake. So if I were you, I would look into a highflow airfilter + no airbox lid, then move onto getting it ported/polished and the head milled - you will see tremendous gains in power through that. And lastly, a pipe, your port type will determine what pipe would be best for you. The toomeys are great pipes but really, they arnt the BEST for every single rider. I have an extreme drag port and the best type of pipe for me is a HIGH REVV, hence a Paul Turner. For others, they might have a Bottom eng (torque) port job so they'd need a pipe - such as LRD (ajusted to low end) to help out in the best possible ways. There are pretty much two kinds of pipes, Engine Builder pipes (PTR, LRD, CT, etc), and your average factory pipe (FMF, PC, DMC, Toomey, etc). The factory type pipes work well with the stock porting design, while the engine builder pipes are built specificly for the modified race engines. Do lots of research and i'm sure you'll find the best pipe for you. I wouldnt reccomend getting the 240 kit, it is very possible - with the proper porting to get just as much power from a stock bore than the 240. You'll run into reliabilty problems with that kit if not properly maintenence. The best setup would be something like a Ported 240 kit along with a stroker...You'll be making tons of HP. Talk to a guy named Craig Patterson hes done my porting and It was EXCELLENT, he knows his stuff and with his wifes blaster and his porting, he walks over banshees, 400ex's etc - all day long...As I do too.
