Craycraft vs Sparks video
#23
actually we did switch bikes but DIDN'T race. I don't know why but that is common sense idea. However my uncle is about 180 on the other sparks 690 bike and you will see he beats me too, and ties my dad. It will be posted sometime today.
I use windows movie maker for the vids, nice and easy
Same paddles, and similar gearing
Sparks690 12/43
CR686 13/46
they would be identical 1 tooth in the front equals 3 in the rear???

THere is a slight difference in the gearing....you have slightly taller gearing. Check out Eaglecollectors speed calculator at the bottom of this link...pick here. I figured you were getting mauled by previous responses...looks too me like maybe 3 lengths. The weight difference and the slightly different gearing could possibly make the difference.

One things for sure, THAT is not the same "motor biuld" that one FSW2. Well I guess it could be, if sparks was running 90% Nitromethane in it.
I agree that you need to switch riders, and race the same hill. Your dad starts pulling you badly after about half way up, that is a sign of a wieght advantage. If your only losing by one quad lenght up OLDS with that much of a wieght diss-advantage then I say you win!
Looks like you guys have al;ot of fun racing each other!
Bigger.

I would beat him,at least give him a run, your gearing is way to high for that small hill, you need shorter gearing,i would try stock gearing or a 13/42 gearing, and i dont think he beat you that bad....
I feel your pain but my bike runs like a sob now...good luck..P.S im still running stoc carbs and cant wait till i get the 39 FCR's...
just gearing alone you could pick up 2 bike at the most...trust me i have seen it happen

That brings up a question about gearing. Yes you have the same gearing in numbers, but does it react the same for turning the gears? It sounds the same but there has to be some kind of difference do to the fact the difference in sizes.

I will be posting another video of my uncle beating me and he is 180. This was one of my best runs
Our gearing is real close. I figured I would pick up some torque do to the larger front and rear. Mechanical advantage, closer the gears are together the less bend in the chain and more torque???? I think
I'll dial the gearing in soon, just depends on the hill, I did much better on olds than china wall

I always thought it was easier to turn a smaller Diameter gear than a larger one. Just a thought.
