Yosh owners - repack ?
#1
My Yosh comp full system seems to be getting quite loud and appears to be getting hotter (based on some discoloration of the cannister). I'm guessing I need to repack it - been over a year since installed new.
Any tricks ? Does Yosh make a repack kit with the correct size/amout of packing ?
Thanks in advance for any info before I tear it apart.

I would send it to them for the packing, its a little diffrent then the rest of the pipes, cost somewhere from 60 bucks to repack plus shipping... I got mine donr for free after i felt it was a bad pipe they sent me anyways.

this may sound funny but it works for me i got some more packing and it was hard it get it all in the canister i wraped clear mailing take around it made for easy insertation the tape burns off then the packing is in good just drill out all the rivets and pull ends out then when done packing rivet them all back together about a good hour job but its not that hard
the main prob was trying to get the canister inside the packing

I have the Yosh silencer all pulled apart - and noticed two types of packing in there. Immediately surrounding the core is a wire mesh (like a heavy guage steel wool) about 1/4 inch thick and then the traditional fiberglass packing. The bike shops have the fiberglass stuff but i've never seen the wire stuff for sale ? Any ideas ?
Thanks, Eric

I ordered the material from Yosh. Turns out the inner core is first wrapped in a course steel wool and then wrapped in the glass cloth stuff. The glass cloth stuff is unlike I've ever seen - it was like a quilted blaket - not just loose stuff like ya see for sale at the bike shops. Re-packing was fairly easy. The hardest part was separating back piece from the cannister/core - but not bad. I'd reccommend getting the stuff from Yosh since it was somewhat unique.
