Just as the topic says. For a 11:1 piston do they offer a stock bore size, or do you have to get it bored to use the 11:1? Thanks as always.

They offer it in stock bore, but you still need to take it to a machinist to make sure it has the corrrect clearances and to de-glaze the sleeve, then you have to file fit the rings to the correct ring end gap.

Thats new to me Hiram? I have changed a good 8-10 topends in two strokes, and never had to "deglaze" the cylinder? Check ring gap, and tolerances sure, but I've never heard of deglazing. How does the glazing occur, and is it not something I could do? I don't see the need to take it to a machinist for those things?

Thanks Barlett. I understood the part of ring gap inspection, and cleareance inspections, but had not heard of "deglazing"? Could you/anyone inform me as to what it is,how it happens, etc.? I have a ball hone in our shop is that something I could do, or is it not for the "backyard mechanic" , and if it is just a glazing could you not take a very fine *1000/2000grit* wet/dry sand paper to it? Just asking questions not discrediting anyone. Thanks.

De-glazing is also called honing and it can easily be done with a set of spring loaded honing stones on a drill. This is done to create a cross hatch pattern to help set and seal the rings as the cross hatch pattern acts as a file sanding down the rings to seal tight against the sleeve.

Once I actually get around to doing I may do just that Barlett. We'll see. More than anything I was just uncertain as to what deglazing was. Now that I know its also referred to as honing.....don't I feel dumb . O well, now I have another word for honing to add to my technical jargain dictionary.

I spoke with a guy with JE and he said it's a drop in item. Of course honing is recommended...I would go too a reputable shop for this.
