My sister in laws brother is an R&D for Yamaha. I met him for the first time the other day. I asked him about the new Raptor 660 and he kinda of smiled and said that he knew a good bit about them. I said to him did you ride one and he said oh yeah. I was like what's it like and he said it is amazingly fast. He said that is handles better than a 400ex. It will smoke a banshee in a drag race. It will wheelie in any gear. He that the motor really pulls off the bottom end. He said that it churn out about 48-50 h.p. stock. He said that is not final yet but they might change the silencer type. They might also change the suspension he thought that it was too soft for aggressive riders. any more question i can ask him he gave me his #.

Here's some cool pics of the Raptor that may get you drooling over it:

Note the little details like grease zerks, handlebar mounted choke, easy reverse engagement, indicator lights, and spin-on oil filter.

YZF400F....Would you mind asking him if the front and rear shocks were the same as the banshee. It has the same travel length as the Banshee and has the same width (whick makes me wonder how much Banshee there really is there under the Raptor skin).

grease zerks, easy to use choke & reverse, spin on oil filter. Except for the weight all these quads are more & more like a Polaris ! Ha, Ha
I remember not too long ago guys bad mouthing a certain type of quad because it had zerks!

Could you ask him about the chain adjustment. Is it like the Banshee and Warrior? Thanks

Yamaha scraped their old chain adjustment system. Now the adjuster bolts are on the side of the swingarm and the bolts go directly into the axlehousing. They not only improved the reverse, chain adjustment but also the airbox. Throw that screwdriver away finally went to clips. Not to mention the rear shock is now ontop of the swingarm instead of below it where it wasn't protected by aftermarket skids. Seams like Yamaha has fixed all past greivances of their bikes. This bike is awesome I can't wait to ride one. Go yamaha!

In response to the polaris remark, yes yamaha has always had zerks on warriors and banshee's, its just not detremental to the quads life if you miss a scheduled greasing as it is in pourlaris's

Ive missed a grease change and another thing i also missed was wolverines keeping up wit me. Jk But you do need to shut your mouth about bad mouth polaris all the times when i had a chose between and wolverine and a polaris and picked the polaris because it was a better bike
