Default Opinions on HMF exhaust?

Roach (or anyone else with an HMF on their raptor), have you put a db tester on yours? I am interested in an HMF for my rappy but I'm afraid of it being obnociously loud. My bro. in law has a Big Gun on his raptor and that thing is annoyingly loud. Also have you used the quiet core before? If so did you notice a diff. with it in or out? Thanks

One of my friends that races GNCC had to have is tested, he has a YZF450 and it tested at 108 idol, mine was tested at 106 idol. The loud pipes quote was something I read on a Harley shirt, sorry if it offended anyone. Just trying to make humor.

I agree. I was surprised to hear around 108. Most seem to be around 102. I have the GYTR but don't have it on yet. Yamaha dealer had swiped a couple parts out of the bag and didn't know it. Should have the parts any day now....

For riding at the dunes, I'll leave it however loud but I ride a lot in national forests and have the quiet end cap coming. Heard it helps quiet it down a lot.

No offense taken. Just wanted to make sure you aren't one of them kids writing into magazines wanting to make your quad as loud as possible.

Thanks guys for all the responses. And especially for the DB ratings you found out. That is exactly what I DON'T need is a rediculously loud pipe. I guess I'll be looking at the Whitebros. E-series....... At least you can make those quieter. I'm also looking at the Alba"factory seconds pipe". So we'll see. Again thats for all the help.

Don't run out and buy the E series quite yet! I have an HMF with the quiet core and the mods you see listed in my sig. I'll have my the "wild boar" running by the end of this weekend and I'll do some db levels for you.

I do like my HMF set up, like Blue said it has great power from down low right through the mid. It doesn't have as much umph as a sparks but it does sound sweet.

Yea, but all the quiet cores I've ever seen/used corked the motor up. And thats the whole point of the aftermarket exhaust.......UNcorking it.

True. You can modify the quiet core to your liking, just use a drill and an extra large drill bit.

We run an HMF on a KFX400 and a Baja X and they are no louder than the T4s or e-series. As far as power, I have yet to find a pipe for under $500 that can give as smooth a change to the powerband as the HMF.

BlueLeader, If you are having trouble with the top flattening on you, I recommend a dynajet kit. These pipes are not flat anywhere.

We have a full system Dual HMF ordered for the new KFX700. Can't wait to test that one out.
