Default Oil Filter Install Rookie Question

Okay, I admit I ask directions when driving and help with small maintenance items. I just do not want to screw something up. I have a 01 Big Bear and the oil filter change is nothing like a car. It seems that the filter opening just goes over the engine oil intake that has a little metal flange. It does not click in just kind of hangs until I bolt the housing back on. Is this right? Seemed kind of inexact as opposed to the screw on car filters. Thanks for the help and keep the jokes to yourself or behind my back.

Maybe change the topic to read Big Bear also so those that own one can help out. The Yamaha forum seems to cater to the Raptor/Banshee crowd but plenty of other quad owners read it to. Some may skip your post thinking it has nothing to do with the quad they own. Just a thought.
