Default kodiak valves

hi,

03 kodiak, 68 hours, running fine..before

I decided to check valve clearance since manual said to, I had a photocopy from my dealer on the procedure. The valve were within spec but on the tight side so I loosened them to the be in the upper middle. after starting it back up, it won't idle right. it is idling real rough. It makes good power though.

Is my problem most likely the valves are not at the right clearance now? Maybe they moved when tightning the locknut?
Could there be any other cause?
I am waiting on the engine to cool back down right now and I plan to check the clearance again.

Just wanted to make sure if you did this adjustment when the engine was cold or hot . Should be done after the engine has been shut down for a few hours !!!

Just my 2 cents ?

O.K rda now that we got that out of the way.And we know the valves were adjusted right ???? I would go ahead and have my carb... idle mixture reset and after that is done I would check the base idle setting . By the way this is normal procedure on any four stroke!!

Seppi

P.S.. I own a 2000 Kodiak and I haven't had a burp of trouble with it yet !!!! {Touch wood }

Thanks, but I found the problem. When removing or reinstalling the tank, I accidently pulled the choke cable tube partially out of the carb which made the choke stay on. DOH!
