just went and changed my oil and filter for the first service, $13.00 for a filter at the dealer was kinda steep! is hand tight enough on the filter or do i need to crank it down with a filter wrench. it was pretty tight when i took off the old one but i dont want to risk screwing up threads or the filter case if i dont have to.

 

Try a Fram PH6017. Under $5.00 at your local Wally world (Walmart). Same filter as my 1996 Honda CBR600F3. I have always put my filters on hand-tight with no leaks or other problems.
