Banshee vs Trails
#1
Hey all you banshee guys I just bought me a banshee today from a friend and since there isnt no sand
anywhere around here I will be having to ride my shee in the woods and trails. What I want to know is
if the banshee will be good on the trails, Will they over heat because you cant ride them that fast through
the woods. Mine has been bored 80 over and ported.

Stock ones suck in the woods. they have no low end and will want to foul very easily.
dont know what kind of porting you have, but usually more compression helps the banshee's low end problem and if you have pipes, depending on what kind, would help it as well. but the engine was not designed to putt around trails. This engine came from the RZ350 street bike and was made to rip.

tires with some tread are a must also. my step dad's banshee is all stock and the 22 inch blackwaters he has on it tear the ground up. If you only ride trails I would suggest getting a 22 inch mud tire. They will help out with traction issues when you hit the light switch power band.

Like someone else depending on what type of port work you have can make a difference. A drag ported bike in the woods is going to be harder to ride. Not impossible but more difficult. A good swing arm skid is also a must, the stock one sucks and seems like it gets hung on everything. Armadillo makes an excellent one, and it takes a lot of abuse without bending. Even with me running the T5's which are supposed to be more high end pipes, I have no problems trail riding mine with everything else that is done. With the port work, single carb, and currently about 175 lbs of compression the bike is a breeze to trail ride. Heating issues I have never had. I run distilled water and redline water wetter in with my coolant and have had no problems. If you do then there are always aftermarket larger radiators, and different impellers for the water pump. If your jetting is on the money that helps too. Believe me though you can ride that banshee as fast through the woods as you are brave enough to go.

By the list of mods that Shee top end built, but with a good idea of how the quad whats to be handled it is not problem to trail ride, and can actualy make a boring trail ride really fun as you rip it up on the turns.
