Yesterday (Friday) went on my first real trip on my 2000 KODIAK and encountered afew (15-20) river crossings. The KODIAK did an EXCELLENT job with zero effort! (3 - 4 ft of water kind of swift) When I get film back I'll try to post pics so the non-believers can see the depth and swiftness of the water.
The guys I ride with have all honda (one 450s and two have ranchers and one has arctic cat500), everyone made it across but I was the only one who wasn't wet!!! The KODIAK floats quite well and keep me dry.
The other great thing I found on this trip was that we traveled 80 miles and everyone not including me (on my KODIAK) had to refuel. When I got home and filled up I still had 1.5 gallons of fuel left. Is this normal, I did most of my riding in 2WD all except crossing the water? Anywho I was very impressed with the KODIAK not that the other machines sucked or anything alltho the 450 honda and 500 AC did get stuck hahahahahahaha!!!! By the way my machine is all stock, can't talk wife into more money.....YET Happy Ridin'

Ours did good also in deep water as long as you go slow, but if you hit it fast androll water back over the hood water gets in the belt and slips, but it's not that often so just drain and go on.It will also outrun my 450es,I love both these machines.

I have been in shallow water up to two feet but have been afraid to go any deeped. Can you explain about draining water from the tranny housing. Maybe I am not looking in the right place but I have not found a drain plug of any kind. Mine is a 00 4X4. Hope to hear a reply so I will not be nervous in water.

There are two,one is a plastic hose up in the frame behind and in about 8 inches from your left side, the other is underneath about 6 inches in from the foot brake.you will need a extension and socket,I believe a 10mm,Hope this helps.
