Raptor cold starting
Hi guys, hope you al had a good christmas.
I've had my Raptor out over the holidays and Ive found its not the best for starting when the temperatures cold, to give you a rough idea temperatures of 5degrees c etc. It eventually starts on the choke but then wants to cut out. Once its run for 5min or so its fine, starts first time no problems, just the initial starts a pain.
Also as a side line, how do you raptor owers find your front brakes, personally I think mines are very soft and dont stop the bike that great, Im sure when I got the bike they were better but then I could just be inagining it.
Cheers
Dave

If the Raptor is mechanically sound, then it should start right up. I ride year 'round and have never had a starting issue. Proper use of the choke is key upon startup. Apply enough choke so the Raptor idles highest. THen, as it warms up it will start too shutter....let off the choke a bit and the engine rpm's pick back up. Follow this procedure until you have no choke applied....piece of cake....

I keep up on the valves... we rode at Tower this past sunday, and when we got there it was 1 deg. F. I had put it on the charger in the garage the night b4. It started on the first try after about 3 revolutions. After eating lunch and it sitting for about 30 min, and being about 15 deg, it started again with no problem.... I dunno, maybe throw yours on the charger too, seemed to do better than my buddies bikes too... 1 Z400, another raptor, and a YFZ.
