Default countershaft?

I posted a thread looking for tire info and someone replied:
"holeshot XCTs dude! 23" front, 22" rear. change countershaft by one tooth. "

What exactly do people mean by "countershaft"

I asume you are going from stock tires too the beforementioned? 1 tooth down too 12 teeth in front will get the gearing in the ballpark of where it was. You will need a 1 1/4" socket and preferably an air impact wrench.

Yep, I have changed my front sprocket a half-dozen times. It's pretty much straight forward. Drop the peg (14mm bolts), take the shifter off (10mm), take the worthless plastic chain guard off with an allen head wrench (forget the size). Now, use your air wrench too zap the retainer nut off. Now, loosen the chain and you are ready too install the new sprocket. A steel sprocket will last longer and you will need some light duty loc-tite too put on the countershaftshaft threads upon assembly. Reverse procedure and you are done. Oh yea, you have too have a mandatory 6 pack if you are working on the 4 wheeler.
