Kodiak - Skid plate with plow?
#1
Hi. I recently installed a cycle country plow on my Kodiak. To do so, I had to remove the plastic skid plate. Is there an aftermarket skid plate that will work with the plow mount?
Thanks

Thanks, but I'm trying to avoid my dealer. The last time I talked to them, they wanted $330 to install a winch and plow. That was an hour's worth of work for me, and I assume they could have done it even faster.
Anyone else have a suggestion? Is there a good place online selling Kodiak stuff?

My thoughts are the same as atv 123's. Are you really sure you have to take the skid plate off. I have a Kimpex plow on mine and it bolts right on top of my skid plate. What seems to be the problem? Bolts to short or holes in the wrong place?

Well, I feel his pain. I purchased a Warn and the mount goes on top of the mainframe rails. The horseshoe bolts go around the frame and thus the skidplate is in the way. I simply cut slots in mine (well simply might be over simplifying it.. machined slots in the aluminum) to allow the skidplate to be on with the horshoe bolts in place.
As for finding a skidplate already like this... good luck.

I guess I should have checked this board before I installed my Kimplex plow. As the instructions for the mount say that the skid plate must be removed first , now the last foot and half of the plastic plate towards the rear is only seated against that plate due to it's elasticty. Maybe I'll take if off and put the mount on over the skid plate.
