Raptor oiling flow and strainer ?
#1
I'm curious how the oil flow goes through the motor. The diagrams in the service manual made my brain hurt !? I'm concerned that some small pieces of the plastic oil pump gear could have gotten to some small oil galleys - not sure just concerned.
Will small debris in the bottom of the motor (tranny parts, clutch stuff, etc) be sent through the strainer and then to the oil filter before being sent up to the head ?
Also, is the oil strainer servicable. It's the big round flat thing inside the case at the bottom. Does it come apart for cleaning ? The parts diagrams show it separated but I'm not clear how. The service manual doesnt really cover it in detail. Anybody had one apart ?
Thanks, Eric

The oil strainer is serviceable.
If you take out the strainer assembly, you'll see that there is a cover on the bottom of the strainer.
Mark the relationship of the cover to the housing and then pry it off. There are threee tabs that hold it on.
Once you get it off, you can clean out the strainer screen with compressed air, etc. Most of the debris can be picked off by hand though.
Be careful not to tear a hole in the strainer screen and be careful around the edges so that you don't knock it loose.
Have fun!
