Banshee frame?
#1
Does anyone know where or even if you can buy aftermarket frames for the Banshee? I rolled it and part of the frame that supports the top of the radiator and the handle bars got pushed back towards the gas tank about 1/4 to a 1/2 inch. The stock frame is $741.00 OUCH!!! I want to get a new frame this winter and modify it with two welded support bars between the gas tank and the plastic to reinforce that area of the bike. I know the bike isn't made to roll over but I think it was a bad design on Yamaha's part. They have a cheesey metal piece welded in there that has no support at all!!

i think you might be paying significantly more than that for an aftermarket frame, although i'd like to know how you fare, because my banshee frame is just hours from folding itself and i wouldn't mind doing the same thing. i'm from the royal oak area. where do you ride?

Try K&K atv at kandkatv.com. They have the lonestar or Laegers frames (not sure). However they are about $2000. If I was you I would just get a good used one, they have those also. You will find the going rate to be about $400 for a good A arm frame. Unless you do alot of high level racing, don't wase your money on the racer frame. Besides there is probably a huge wait for it anyways. Good luck.

i ride near grayling/st. helen. i also hit the dunes whenever i can (although i can't quite figure out that voucher system yet...) i am going to try to go to the up to ride next weekend. what did you figure out about that banshee frame?

That's $170 cheaper than the stock frame. Is it a Yamaha part or an aftermarket part? The part that the handlebars are attached to is what I'm going to try to reinforce with a piece of round steel tubing between the gas tank plastic and the gas tank itself on each side. That will bend backwards with a very mild flip. I haven't got a new frame yet. That is my new winter project along with pipes, reeds, jetting, and a new swing arm. Thanks for the response!

I'm not going to do anything with the frame until this winter. The bike is still rideable so I'm not to worried about it right now.
I just put a Dura Blue Eliminator axle on it with a Magnum tapered bearing carrier on it. Is the axle carrier supposed to seep grease out by the axle nut when you grease the carrier? It's coming out of the splines on either side of the axle. (kinda hard to explain on here unless you see it)
My friends and I just went up to Leota again this last weekend...awesome weather and trail conditions. It just sprinkled on Saturday night enough to keep the dust down for Sunday's ride.
I don't know if it's you or not, but the voucher system is kinda like tickets to a sporting event. They only have so many parking spots at the dunes for non-trail ready machines. They have to get some kind of organized way to let the maximum amount of people in who want to ride. They designate times for people to enter the dunes and if you are not there, tough.

Korey,
The frame I got from CAL-ATV is an OEM Yamaha frame. I try not to buy anything from the dealerships. Their prices are about 25% higher on everything.
I bent the frame the same as you did on a rollover. I pushed it back using a hydraulic porta-power.
