Default airbox lid or no lid: YFZ

i recently ordered a gyt-r ket kit and a k&n to go along with my exhuast and header, i was wondering if i should take my lid off. i ride in snow in winter. how much will this affect my quads power if i do not take it off?

I highly doubt that window screen will do much good if any. The things that screen would stop, would easly be stopped by the filter. Snow would be slung up there and just melt right threw, so I son't see any need to do that.
I personally run with the lid open and a k&n, and have not had a problem yet. The filter is prefiltered with an outerwears. THe performance gains where worth it, especially in conjunction with other mods! I too, ride in the snow, and stil have not had any problems.
There are some aftermarket lids out there that would be better to run, then nothing at all. I think I am going to just by the outerwears filter box cover. THat way its getting "prefiltered" twice, and filtered threw the k&n. Like I said though, I havnt had a problem, and I check my intake boot and filter quit often to make sure of this.

i am not worried about solid things getting stuck cuz i would open my lid if it was for that but when i open my airbox to clean it theres a bunch of muddy water that worries me. will a little bit of muddy water be a big prob? what if i clean the filter more often.
