yfz 450 vs. Honda 250r

ahmen. if they hadnt all gotten scared and stopped making 2 stroke racing quads back then they still would be making them today. look at dirtbikes. they are only making 4 strokes because of impending emissions standards they have trouble meeting on high performance 2strokes. Great there are all thumpers in the GNCC quad races but i was watching GNCC dirtbike races and they were all 250s accept for one 450 thumper and it was getting thumped left and right. why? cause they still make those peppy two strokes in the dirtbike world. its the fault of all those dumb parents that sued the comapnies that led to the death of the LT, 250R, Tecate4, all the trikes like the tri-Z tecate3 and ATC250r. it seems the yami banshee and blaster are the only two that survived yamaha has ***** to keep them around. more than the other companies did.

I love both bikes, And the way I see it from experience! A stock YFZ with just the baffle out, will run better than a piped 250R. A piped YFZ450 will smoke a piped 250R hands down!! But the potential of the 250R is higher than the YFZ. What's funny is I have beat 330's & I have been killed by 330's. A properly tuned 330 should smoke a YFZ. I'll admit with the mods I have, I have close to $8000 invested in my quad (Including what i paid for it). And yes you can buy a 250R for less than half of that. but by the time you get it running & looking as good as a Piped/cam moded YFZ450, your not far behind in the price range of the 450 " I should know because I restored one". So what it comes down to is do you want a clean reliable 250R that is 15 years old. Or do you want to pay a little more & have a new bike that is equal or better?

I would love to see that.

thats for pointing that out 250r4life - I usually just laugh when people say I beat a piped this or a piped that or 330 this or 580 that..imo none of them are the same. heck, there's probably 330's out there I could beat right now with what little I have in mods..but then there are going to be 330's that would absolutely murder me. for all we know that 330 was just bored to a 330 and everything else is the same...or maybe has the biggest pos pipe out there...

lol - what????!?!?!?!?!!
delta reeds $100, esr/aeen all around pipes w/ silencers, $330, K&N filter $50, few extra bucks for jetting... that should take just a stock yfz from what I can tell and have collected watching them on straights and people that race etc...but I could be wrong, no one will let me take their yfz for a test run :-(
