Default Elkas ???

Good news and bad news. I received my new Elkas today in time for Glamis, that's the good news. The bad news is... when I ordered them I was told they would lower the front at least an inch and after I mounted them the heighth was the same even when sitting on the quad.

My question is will they sag a little more after riding it some?
If not they're going back.

Dude,

I'm on the phone with someone about your question. He said, if it does you should be able to add a little more preload. Did you talk to Elka after you mounted the shocks? Maybe you can ask Elka if you do decide to keep them and they do drop, can you exchange the springs for something stiffer (higher spring rate). Let me know

I want it lower, that was half the reason that I got them was to lower the ride heigth.
UPS didn't get here til about 4:00 and by the time I had them mounted I'm sure Elka was closed. I'll call them tomarrow while I'm driving to Glamis.

Are you going from stock to the Elkas? Triple or quadrate? Give us info. I know my quadrates sat low on my buddies bike... lower than his triple rate Axis I believe.

Thats exactly what is on my shee and you can definitely tell it sits lower than stock. Arent SSD's zero-preload? Im pretty sure thats what it said in my manual. If they are it wouldn't matter if you were sitting on it or not.

Yea I adjusted the preload all the way up (maybe one turn left to go) and it lowered it about 3/4". I was hoping for about an 1"-1 1/2" lower than stock.
Thanks Bartlett and diescarred I'm feeling a little better.
