if you find the thumb throttle hard to push and ur hand gets tired easily just take the spring out of the carb and file it down i found a big difference!and theres acaully a bit more throttle responce.

Hi Nubbin, we bought the straight model, had I seen the adjustable one, we would of looked at that. But, we were in the middle of a pismo trip when we bought them. After putting them on, they were an instant success. Instead of going on a 20-30 minute ride, we rode for 2 1/2 hours. They don't seem like they would be to hard to make if you have the time to do it. For safety reasons I would'nt use tape to hold it on though. Happy Riding.

I have known of two instanances where the thumb extension caused serious problems....one case was the thumb asist hit the gas tank when turned all the way to the right, thereby pouring the gas on,,,,,other one was where while doing climbing, the front end was abruply turned one way or the other and the assist sticking out made contact with the drivers leg, propelling him more than he wanted......
So if you use one of these, be very careful with it

Hardware store, 5 inch pc of the stiffest pressure rubber hose you can find that will just slip over the thumb throttle with a good push. some good black tape. and a total cost of 1.50. and it works. trust me.
Not just plain water hose, but the kinda hose you use for pressure situations. its red in color.

Yes the hose thing works really well, you kinda use more of your palm instead of just the end of your thumb, its hard to explain.
But what was not hard to explain was the nagging pain in my thumb after riding, and then some tendon in it swelling up where it goes through a sleeve (socket) in your thumb, to the point my thumb would lock and have to be popped straight, and then got further irritated to the point of selling my atv, getting surgery or a CORTAZONE SHOT right in the base of the thumb where that tendon is!!! Let me tell you somthing about them cortazones shots, I aint ever felt no sh*t like that!!! and Ill never do it again. Whew makes me sick jsut remembering it.
Dr says the surgery is less painful than the shot!!!! but the shot was 90 bucks vs the cost of a surgery. Any way I am older 34 and do have some arthritas in my hands gotta love them factory jobs!
But any way my hose deal has made it easier. Not perfect but I dont have to use the thumb so much
