when i rode my friends 2003 blaster i found that the suspension rode rather rough i didn't like it all. when climbing hills it definetly has enough power to get up the steepest hills. in the sand it also does good depending on the sand tires you choose. my friend has the geckos which are a horrible sand tire. the straight blade sand tire are much better. it would probably be good for you!

I owned a blaster just a couple... weeks ago, actually. Anyway, the stock suspension sucks. the fronts are set too hard and the rear too soft. they bounce around a lot in rough stuff. but, i really didnt hate it, its just that my shee's suspension is such an improvement i notice how bad the blasters was. i dont know what kind of hills youre talking about, but their short wheelbase and touchy powerband would make them prone to going over backwards if pushed too hard, although the stuff i did try it did really well, so basically just keep your momentum up. (im speculating, i never tried any hills that were really steep) i never had any problems with mine though, and it did everything i asked it to do and it did it all very well. Its a great introduction to the sport quad world and delivers considerable performance over other models in its price range. (actually theres nothing that comes close to the performance of a blaster for the same price.) It does great in dunes, but dont put paddle tires on. the stock knobbies actually do really well and climbed every hill i ever pointed it at, and i went up some really steep stuff. the paddles i tried were horrible power robbers and the bike would stall every time i started to take off. I had to get going on a downhill or it would just die, it hated those paddles. if youre planning on having it for a while (and if youre planning on growing) you might want to consider a larger model (warrior, 400ex, Z400, etc.).

ya a blaster is perfect for the size you are now (like said above.. you might wanna consider bigger.. i suggest a Z)... they wont climb very big hills but it will probably surprise you. sand slows down any quad that doesnt have the power to push thru it.. and a blaster is probably the minimun you could go.
