glowing Pro Curcuit pipes
#1
I have pro curcuit pipes on my 2000 banshee. last night I noticed that the first 6 inches of the pipe were glowing red hot. I had been running it pretty hard down the road. Is this normal? also I have a leak on each pipe were they meat the cylinder. Does anybody know of a good way to solve this problem?

Did you just put the pipes on recently? If so did you re-jet the carbs? If not that's more than likely the problem. Two reasons come to mind that could cause this:
A) ATV running lean (more air than fuel).
B) Air leak at pipe area's as you noted, replace o-rings and see if problem stops.
"Check your plugs imediately" and see if they are
grey or white. If so it's running lean. Also check around the cylinders, head and intake area to see if your have an leak. Try spraying soapy water or windex around the cylinders and head, if leaking you should see bubbles form. For the intake areas from cylinders back to carbs try spraying carb cleaner or something not combustable on these area's If theres a leak you hear the engine RPM's drop or stumble.
Hope this helps!

I was wondering if you have re jetted your carbs after you installed your pipes. After any mod to the intake or exhuast is made to increase air flow you need to re jet your carbs. Or there might be an air leak like somone else in this thread stated.

Ok. I got the pipes. I also got a pro design pro flow kit. I have 4 1 inch holes in my lid. I rejeted to 280 mains and I am at sea level. I have checked my plugs and they are grey in some areas and brown in others. I have leaks on both sides were the pipe meets the cylinder. So as far as you guys know the hot pipes are not normal?

I have the PC's on my '99 banshee. The header pipe turned a slight yellow purplish color lasting about 4 inches from the head. Its not really noticeable unles you really look and it is definately not glowing. As long as it runs good and your plugs check out OK I think you will be alright. You may want to double check your jets and maybe your gas/oil ratio. As for the leak, use some exhaust gasket sealant. Let it set-up and before you put the silencers on start it up and any left over sealant will blow right out the pipe. Good Luck. If it matters, I run 270 jets, pro flow filter no cover, and am in Michigan.

Well guys thanks for the advise. I forgot to install the o rings in the exaust pipes. I removed the o rings from the stock pipes and put them in my pro curcuits. This stopped the leaking at the cylinder.
