I am planning on buying a new 2000 Blaster. Is it true that it is easy to blow up a two-stroke engine buy missing a gear or over revving the engine? When You buy a new blaster will the engine need to be tuned or just broken in?

Thanks

A blaster doesn't run at a high enough RPM to blow it up by missing a gear. i can't think of any ATV engine that does.

You just break them in. I don't know what you mean by tune. You can buy it and do nothing or you can add all the performance parts you want. Either way it's a fun machine, but i know you'll grow tired of the stock speed and power after awhile. That's why i'm going for the CT240 big bore.

There is no rev limiter like on a 4-stroke, but
the only blown 2-stroke engines I've seen were
overheated. Probably a combination of too lean
and over reving. In the summer make sure the
jetting is rich enough to keep the engine cool.
