Anybody lengthen their stock swingarm?
Check my Gallery page in an hour (updated pictures) to see what happens when you catch a tree with your rear tire when you are running an extended stock swingarm. Completely ripped off. And I was only going about 15 mph. But while I had it it worked GREAT! I loved it. It put more weight on the front tires, making it turn and corner better. Yes, that is right it cornered better with a +3 swingarm than with a stock swingarm.
But now I would only use a lengthened stock swing arm for drag racing, duning (no big jumps), hill climbing, or any other type of riding without alot of high stress. It is an inexpensive way to get some more length and reduce the light, wheelie happy front end.
Now I have a +2.5 Tucker swingarm that I am using for everything this year, GNCC, MX, dunes, sand drags. I think it is the perfect compromise. Good luck with your decision.

You were only going 15mph!!! Ouch.
I might talk to this guy I know that makes custom aluminum boats. I don't get too crazy in the air, and it would be real nice to have around 3 more inches in the dunes. I guess if it breaks I wouldn't be out a whole lot money, and I would know what size to get if I did buy an aftermarket one.

The reason the cut and welded swingarms are not as strong as stock is because at the factory the swingarms are welded in a soft state then heat treated for strength.Once you weld on the swing arm it takes the heat treating back out (annealing)of the aluminum and makes it weak around the welds.
