I assume you are talking 2003 or 2004? If so I hate say it but I would go with the Polaris. Lots of power and the brakes to stop it. Now if you are talking 2002 or older I would have to say the Kodiak, just because of the high/low range which comes in real handy while towing or muddy rocky sections that do not call for speed but finess.IMO. And I can't give a real good answer. Polaris seems to be on top of their game when it comes to uti quads, but my friends seem to have lots of problems with their 2stroke polaris'

 

I would go with polaris. They look better and prolly perform better. If I were you I would get the Polaris.

 

hey, my friend has a new 400 kodiak and from what i understand the only way he can get through the snow is with his winch. i have 400 sportsman and can beat him in anything. go with the polaris, youll thank yourself later

beaten path here and ( NOT SAY BUY THE POLARIS !!)
Rather, I will offer another option.
have you thought about 450 kodiak ,Its a lot more bike than the 400 kod.
i had an 03 it was an exc. all around michine ,when you go back to the dealer compare the 450
with the other two. Also how are you going use the bike ,if your going to ride and thrash
it hard ,the pola wont stay to gether .this will p-ss off some pola boys ,but thrashing bikes is huge here in
WV ,we ride all year round in every thing you can imagine ,and way more polarisis limp or
get drug back than any other. sorry boys, you know im right.

P.s if all else fails, my better half says to buy the pretty one.
