Default 04 Raptor or 04 YFZ???

I think I've got my mind made up, but since I've found this forum, I thought it wouldn't hurt to open up a can of worms...

I'm heavily leaning towards getting an "04" Raptor 660, but still curious about the YFZ450. I'm 6'0" tall and around 260lbs., I will be doing primarily trail riding, but very aggressively and abusive. I feel more comfortable on the Raptor because of size and also like the idea of reverse because of the trail riding, but suspension and performance wise I like the YFZ450, but don't feel as comfortable (size).

Do I go with a Raptor and make the suspension and performance changes, or do I adjust to the size/feel of the YFZ450 also, no reverse, therefore pulling out of the woods in overshot corners? Also, would the YFZ450 hold up to my weight/abuse?

Like I said, I think??? I'm leaning towards the Raptor, but would love to hear experienced comments and feedback...

Thanks in advance!!!

If you feel more comfortable on the Raptor that should be your answer.

If it's for trail riding you'll love the Raptor. No questions asked.

RAPTOR is want you want it has speed looks and it takes the abuse. yz450 more for racing and more mantience it's a bitc#ing bike thought.

Raptor is your quad. YFZ is the racing machine. And if you want suspension like the YFZ you can easily get aftermarket suspension on the Raptor. Soon after the the things I want now I will be picking up works triple rate suspension for my Raptor Its an insane bike, with GOBS of torque. Youll love it!

I went with the raptor, it was rappy or shee, but insert whatever into the argument. I am 6'5 and similar in weight so the bigger rap felt better, I also liked the size of the ds, but I am in a yamaha family! My wrench says that the 660 is a tough motor and doesn't require the same atttention as either the shee or 450.

So my cousin races a 450 (stock except timing was advanced) up sand mtn on his 250r,( piped, jetted, but no major mods) and gets beat by 1/2 length. At the bottom he says he was glad that there was finally a thumper worthy of the hype, the dude says when it is piped, jetted he will smoke the 250's always. SO my cousin says what did you pay? the guy says 6800. My cousin starts laughing, and tells him that his 250r he bought new, and is 25 years old, and it took 6800 and 25 years to get to where he is now! Guess you had to be there but the dude was pissed!
