Long term Results on a Web 685.
Lowbowtie- I saw one in Bob's shop with around 100 hours run time (most 300 to 600 feet at a time) The rocker faces were showing wear. This was on a 727 that was a 2002 model that had a stage 2 before the web. Rockers are not that expensive. Just replace when needed. I believe web charges 200 plus for hard faced rockers where new factory ones are 30 percent of that.

Lowbowtie- You also have to machine the 3 intakes. I would take a dremmel tool to them instead of buying shorter guides. The guides can be a pain in the @$$ to install.
For what is is worth, i did not like the web 685 cam in my hi-comp 686 with modded stock carbs. I know have a stage 2 back in mine. I do think a 685, 35 mm FCR's and a 660 or 686 would be okay. I had to really put the fuel to the 685 to get it to haul on the top end. By the time i got the top end dialed in there was no way to dial in the bottom end and early midrange. I was running the equal of 245 main jets. I bought a 100 piece drill set and started working my way up. If you are a 300 foot dragger stick with the stage 2 if you like the 1/8th mile more or hill shoot the 685 will be a better choice. I personally do not like to see my engine spinning in the 10,000 rpm range. 8500rpm's is plenty to put the hurt on most quads

The additional info was exactly what I was looking for. I'm gonna stick with my stage II for now, but when I do my next motor the 685 should be exactly what I'm looking for. I almost wish I had the Extra $$$$$ I would buy a spare Motor and Start Now. I have almost as much fun building motors as I do riding.
