Help jetting banshee needle
#1
My pilot and main jet are right on, but I think my needle may be a little rich. The best way to desribe it is when you hit the powerband hard when its not warm yet and it has some hesitation. This happens at about 1/2 throttle so I'm sure its the needle. I also tried running with the choke on and it was worse. Are these symptoms of being rich and how do you adjust the needle?

You are rich in the mid range, or simply not warmed up yet. If it doesn't do it when it's warm, you may be okay. Go to Duncan racing .com or search some other sites for carburator tuning. There are some extremely well written guides to step you through understanding needle position, needle taper, pilot jet, main jet issues and getting in tune.

Hey ok here is what you do
Take both spark plugs out after running it, if there black and wet then its to rich, if crispy brown it just right, if a white color its too lean
Well your claiming that its to rich heres how you set the needle
Take one carb cap off
Pull the slide out of one carb
Take the spring pull it up so that you have a grip on the throttle cable and push down and over so the cable is out of the slide, MAKE SURE YOU DONT LOOSE THE SPRING!
When your slide is out you can look directly on top of the slide and see a little round thing in there that is shaped for a phillips screwdriver,
unscrew that with your screwdriver.
After that is out pull the needle out of the slide
You will see a little clip and about 5 or 6 notches well where the "little" clip is NOW move it DOWN one notch so that it raises the needle which leans it out. and make sure you dont move it more than one notch.
After that put it back in the slide, get the little round shape for the "Phillips screwdriver" and screw that back on and screw it so that
when you look at it from the rounded side of the slide the notch from the round thing points left.
Put the spring back on the cable and push the cable back in the slide the way you pulled it out
Put the slide and needle assembly back in the carb and thighten the cabs and screw the throttle cable in the top on the carb.
Repeat this for the other carb, it may seem complicated but it takes about 10min.
PS: If it seems to still be running rich try going dow another notch, hope this helps, I am sorry but this is the best way I can explain this
