THE BEST DIRT TRAIL ATV??
#12
Well, for the most part my choices from the start were the Pred, Rappy, Bomp, and Kali(and yes reverse does seem like a nice feature although is not a must have). Now I think I'm down to the yfz450 and rap660. And yes, my riding experience is limited on an atv.......but.......I do ride heavy offroad 4x4.
I know, not the same thing. Actually in some ways it is. You pay alot of money for what you think you can handle, only to later wish you payed more for what you learned to handle.

either that or you make your team of doctors richer because you chose to ride something you thought you could handle
dont take the big bores lightly,,,,they have no conscience

Omm, the big bores are not the BEST for the trail, but I think that you need to get a yfx450. I think that you would be much happier with that. But I see what mark is talking about when he says leave the big bores alone. They can be dangerous but not that dangerous. I mean, they are great trail atvs in my opinion. But WEAR A HELMENT!

I really thank you guys for your thoughts.
Just a couple of things...I 'think' I can ride, although it has been 10 yrs or so(I am 35 now) and really fear buying an underpowed quad more than I do buying an overpowered one and pushing to hard.
As far as the yfz450 goes, I really read up on them and am only leaning towards the Raptor because it has a long bloodline and is refined. The YFZ is new and I have already been reading about battery probs. It does seem to be a hot item but I worry about all the probs that a 'new' release might have.
Keep it coming............

Towercity.... you will not go wrong with either the rappy or the z400(clones). Rappy is a bit faster but the z handles a bit better, both are very comfy. Did you sit on a yfz? seats are real hard, i would love one but not for the riding that i do and you posted that you do. In the trails reverse is a must(we ride with a few guys with 400ex's and they crave reverse).Best of luck with your decision.
