Grizzly 660 owners
#1
Hi, I just bought a 2001 Honda Rubicon but I’m having allot of problems with it and I’m thinking of trading that and my z400 in for a grizzle 660. I have never ridden with one so I don’t know much about them. I know it would be great for mud and stuff but my main concern is being able to keep up with sport quads (300ex-z400’s) on roads and other areas where we are going fast. Would a grizzly 660 be able to do this ok or would it be underpowered or tipsy?
And is the grizzly 660 a reliable machine?

It ll run 68 mph I think. I dont have one but they say the tippy feeling isnt that bad and adjusting the shocks helps. The 02 and 03s had some problems, most were fixed in 04. Drive shafts on the 03s i think and vapor lock on both. The vapor lock supposedly has been fixed and the drive shaft has been fixed.
I should be getting one in the next couple of months. I ve done alot of research and I think this is the best atv for me.

I've got an 04 Griz, and I traded in an 01 for it. I also ride with guys that have the 02 and 03. the only problem we have experienced is the vapor locking in extreme heat. I love mine and would trade it for nothing. I've heard about some of them breaking axles, but have never seen it personally. If you'll check my pics, you'll see that we do some pretty extreme rock crawling and I've never seen one break.
As far as I can tell, they have fixed the vapor locking problem in 04. Mine has not done it yet (knock on wood!) As far as keeping up with the sport quads, I don't think that will be a problem. I wouldn't want to race, but I have no problems keeping up on a trail ride, or on fire roads.

first off, the grizzly's tippy feeling. it has irs, so it feels tippy to anyone who goes from a solid axle to it. its just the way it rides. you will get used to it in a vary small period of time. i bought itp rims with an offset for mine, and can power slide any corner, at any time, with no effort at all. it is extremly solid on off camber and so on with these rims, or similar ones.
as for keeping up with sports. if your on open trails, you can hang quite easy, but not win with the larger ones,( raptors/ bombs) on tight trails, i was surprised to stay rigght on the rearend of a 650 bomb for over 2 miles. the griz only weights 600 lbs, witch is close to the 700 and 650 bomb. less than 100 lbs differance. i know 100 lbs is alot, but its not too bad.
i walk away from the warrior we ride with occasionally, and he is jetted with a pipe and open box.
you can mod the grizzly, and gget even more power out of it.
my question is... do you love mud? do you like rough trails? if your more of an open road rider, who loves going fast and running smoother trails, consitter the prarie 700. if your a flat out rough rider, who lives in the mud, get the grizzly.
