Default Hotcams/ 686 help !

I have 11.1 JE 102 piston with hot cam stage II. the bike has been running great for the past 6 months or so, now, it still runs fine but with a little ticking sound comming from the engine (almost like a hot metal cooling down kindda clicking sound) so I am thinking it's time to readjust the valves. and since I was not the only who installed the cam, I am not sure what's the valve clearence that goes good with my set up.

thanks

Dont sound good could be valves, what did you adjust them to when you had the cam put in? did you machine down the middle valve guide?

yup, all what I want to know is what's the proper valves clearance for hotcam stage II with JE 11.1/102 piston ?

Ward, the valve clearance u just gave me are for stock cams or stage II cams? they seem to be a bit loose for stage II, but I might be wrong tho.

thanks

If the valves are right on, I would check deeper. I thought mine was a tap-it noise, so I was thinking valvetrain, but as I tore deeper, the JE wristpin was broken in half. check out the pics on my page.

hope not!!!

Those are correct factory specs from Hot Cam for a stage 2.

I would adjust the valves and if that didn't help it will probaly be time to go deeper into the motor.

how much of a ticking are you talking about. Mine has had a ton of valve tapping noise since new. I checked the valve clearence and its right on. I'm told with the highier lift on the cam its creates more noise. I never had my values ground down. I was told this you didnt have to do that on newer bikes just the 01's.

That is false info. The head/valves (motor for that matter) never changed year to year. Although I ahve never heard of a Raptor that had to have a machined valve guide with a stage 2 cam.

I would check the vavles. But, the heavier vavle springs are probably making the noise.
