KF Attention 2004 Kodiak 400 Owners...AirFilter Update
#1
There is a product update campaingne that applys to a few 2004 Kodiak 400 2WD and 4WD models.
A few models have an airfilter that is not sewn together correctly. It can allow dirt to enter your engine.
This update applys to models within a certain serial number range. Look at your VIN to see if yours is included.
2004 YFMA 400 Kodiak 2WD.......Last 6 digit range..........007802 to 008800
2004 YFMFA 400 Kodiak 4WD.....Last 6 digit range..........016301 to 020200
What you need to look for is the where the airfilter foam is sewn together. Try gently pulling it apart. If it rips, take the filter and your VIN number to your dealer for replacement. They will not honor it if your VIN number isn't in the range listed above.....so check your VIN number before you do anything.
Models that have had this update done before leaving the dealer will have a punch mark in front of the serial number stamped into the frame.

AlaskaBoy,
Only the 400 2WD and 400 4WD.
The problem was found before the 450 made it to the assembly line I suppose. The 450 isn't mentioned in the update. Only the 400 models.
