Thats very true. The reason that we have such a good repore of Clinton's administration is because the media has us so fixated on the monica and other scandals that the actual issues of the country were ignored.

LOL The economy is always better with a dem. president? I guess you guys are to young to remember Jimmy Carter. LOL
If you would just take a second and think, it's really a miracle that the economy isn't worse than it is. It was going down hill before Bush was elected and then we had 911.

very true. if anyone doesnt believe that, look at the REAL economic data - it was in a tailspin during the last quarter of 2000. Who was in office?? Clinton. Did he get blamed for it like Bush ? NO! Bush gets blamed for everything. He took office, inheriting a faltering economy and 9 months later 911 happens, then corporate scandals and overreated tech sector -which most investors were warning about during the clinton years. Clinton rode the crest of the wave. The economy was in an upward swing in 92, but people were pissed with the first Bush and elected clinton. clinton gets in rides the wave and everyone thinks he did it! He did nothing. What could he really do with a republican controlled congress? nothing but nafta before 94 when the republicans took control of congress.

People act like BUSH got in office and fired 3 million people. wake up! Bush didnt fire you or anyone else. It was economic conditions already underway that caused this, not anything Bush did or did not do. How could he? He was only in office a few months when the tech sector dropped millions of people....Furthermore, the President's job is not to be your employer. He is not walmart. He is elected to carry out and protect the Constitution of the United States of America and to PROTECT America and the people in it. Bush is doing that.

And the 'surplus' that we had when clinton left office - you know what is was - NOTHING but projections. There was no actual money in the bank. It was all speculation totally not considering, ANY war costs, new threats to america, or the perception of the dollar value around the world. the economy would be in worst shape if gore had gotten in and he would have cut military spending BIG TIME and left us as a sitting duck. he probably would even have handed over the soverignty of our nation to the UN and turned his back on all the shed blood of soldiers who died to give us a free country that we have and take for granted and the right to even argue about this.

Take the Republican and Democrat titles and throw them out the window. It's about Conservative and Liberalism. It's pretty sad to see the level of disinformation that the vast majority here regurgitate.

First and foremost, the 90's boom was a direct result of 2 things:

1. Bill Gates and other tech pioneers starting the Tech Revolution and
2. Alan Greenspan and the Federal Reserves PERFECT handling of the hottest economy in history.
Nothing either party can say they did to help or hinder those times except that Clinton's admin. let Greenspan do his thing. The bio-tech medical revolution is about ten years out and we will see another boom. It will probably bring us out of the worst economic times since the depression. These times are coming soon.

Why are these times coming? Our economy is maturing into a strict service and information economy. Our Unions have priced the button pushers, hammer swingers and box stackers out of competitiveness and have created a generation of Lumpenprolatariat. Newsflash; If you live in West Virginia and your Union Local can't hook you up with a job, move your a$$ to Arizona where if you have a Hammer- you have a job. Believe it or not, even us Conservatives would rather hire an American for $20 an hour cash to do remodels on or houses than $8 to some Illegal day worker that can't understand my broken Spanish. If you can't make a living doing what you are doing, get smarter and get a new profession.
We will also see a housing crash in many parts of the country. This is 90% of Americans only true wealth. Most of you live check to check and you know it. Without the equity security blanket many will fall through the cracks.
Bottom line: Get a college education or advanced tech training, accept the $10 WalMart / Burger King job or starve. Just don't act like this country owes you a high paying manual labor job. There just isn't much call for high school dropouts at the Mills in Pittsburgh, the Auto Plants in Detroit or the Coal Mines in West Virginia. I'm so sick of the Sheeple that listen to the Union officials and vote Democrat every time. I know, I used to be a Teamster official in Gary, Indiana just like my Father and his Father. Every guy that ran our Local in the 80's is in Federal Prison. There goes your dues. They drive to the plant in a Grand Marquis and go home in their Benz. Buy American indeed.

Someone was barking up the right tree about deficit and debt. Screw the National debt. Why are we concerned about what we owe others when they NEVER pay us back? France charged America for every Soldier that landed on Normandy. Dead or Alive. That sum has been collecting interest since 1944. That is the National debt. The deficit is way too high right now but as a percent of real GDP adjusted to 70's or 80's dollars it is smaller. BUT IF YOU DO ANYTHING THIS FALL:

LET YOUR PARTY KNOW THAT THIS SPENDING HAS GOT TO STOP. GIVE US A 12% STRAIGHT CONSUMPTION TAX AND GET OUT OF OUR POCKETS. GW spends like a drunken Mass. Democrat. If you want to spend $$$, build a 50ft wall along the Mexican border and keep them out of this country and our medical system.

Blah blah blah, I could go on forever. Forget party platforms. Know the individual issues and make intelligent decisions.

Forget party platforms
i agree with 99% of what you said and i usually dont get into pissing matches on here, but this is a problem in America- is that everyone is forgetting the entirety of what the parties (primarily the democratic) are really doing and what they stand for; you have to know what these parties stand for; the secret agendas that get passed will effect us all.

whether you like the parties we have or not - at this time you really only have 2 choices. Democrat or Republican. You have to align yourself with one or the other in most elections.

and it doesnt matter who started the tech boom. the fact is that is wasnt going to last forever. people act like Bush got in office and ended it and millions of other jobs. that's ridiculous.

As far as debt and defict goes, most don't understand the diference (there is a big diference in DEBT and DEFICIT) and many are led to believe that BUSH cause it all ! BS! How did he cause 7trillion in DEBT in 3 yrs? cant happen and didnt happen. our country has had a debt for over 60yrs. No President is going to pay it off in 4 with some great, genius policy.

True you must pick the right party but sometimes a Conservative come wrapped in a Democratic package like Senator Zell Miller of Georgia. If I was forced to I would Republican straight across but that is easy for me here in Arizona with the likes of McCain and Kyle.

I just wanted to make the point that nobody should say OK to everything just because some fat cat tells you so regardless of which party you support. For example, I personally do not believe in abortion but I don't believe I have the right to stop others the oppurtunity to have one who have different veiws and or circumstances than I. I also don't believe in the death penalty [I would rather see them go crazy in a 5x8 cell with a bread and water diet and NO outside stimulus.] I believe the Republicans would be untouchable if they dropped these 2 issues from their Platform. Damn I sound like one of those crazy Libertarians.

It's all about choice's, and we should be free to make our own. I don't care about party's, I care about the choices the candidates are offering.

You guys can vote for who you want, believe what you want, and basically do what you want. But when we have Democrat's in office, more federal money is given for building consturction jobs, and basically all union craft's are booming with work. Right now, we would have more jobs then people in our local union of bush hadn't said the air was clean enough around the Jon Amos Powerplant where I work right now. They had all the reasons to build a cleaner unit(3 units in the planet). That would have put thousands to work. But your good buddy said the air was clean enough, and the jobs didn't matter.

Your buddy in the white house, wants to cut overtime from the working man's work week. What good is that going to do for working men like myself and others? It doesn't.

So talk all the crap you want to about riding, and anything else, but without busting my @$$ at work, I don't have any of that.

You want something to believe....if you carry a lunch box to work everyday, you better vote Democrat. It's as simple as that.

That overtime thing is BS told to you by your union and news media. Maybe you should open your eyes and read it for yourself. It's very limited in scope and would not cover 95% of us. I work for a living too and if you think the federal government is responsible to keep spending MY money to build crap for YOU to do then move to Canada and pay their ridiculous taxes. You define socialism with your statements. You might find the writings of Karl Marx to your liking.
