The pull starter on my almost new Grizzly is VERY hard to pull. My wonderful dealer service manager says there is no compression release and being hard to pull is just due to the large engine. Is he right? If not, how do I repair?

Well, the pull starter on my Warrior is pretty hard to pull, and that is a 250cc. Now a 600cc whould be very hard, I'd think.

My Y2K Kodak is the same way. You need to practice. Pull it slow untill you get to the compression stroke and yank hard! At 30 degrees I can start mine with 3 pulls.

It's just a backup and not meant to be used regularly. My model Warrior has the pull start and a decompressor. I've tried to pull it without decompressing and it just isn't happening. Check around and there might be some way to get a decompressor for it. In the meantime... keep that battery charged, check connections and work on that upper arm strength!

About the only way of eas'n your pain on yank'n that pull rope is to carry a gorrilla with ya. lol......Since it is just for back-up, its still good to have. If ya ride in deep water, I would completely take it off put a bead of silicone around it, then fill the handle up with silicone and stick it back on. It does have a small drain hole but its not much, its better just to make it water tight. Hope this benefits you in some way..
