ive had some bad luck with flags. Seems no matter what type they are all junk. The pop-its wear out and dont fit, the fiberglass shatter easily, the stainless steel bend right away,

anyone know a good one?

i have a fiberglass one and ive used the exact same one on my recon, my blaster, and now my banshee. it hasnt shattered or even started to break at all. the only thing i dont like is the mounting process, its just a bolt on the bottom of the flag and a nut that screws on below with a lockwasher in between. i want something easier, kinda like this mounting bracket or something similar. do they work well or not?

Get pop off flags, they have a plastic bottom that will pop instead of breakin the fiberglass so you can just pop it back together. It's also much easier to put on then the generic flag holders, it's just a screw that goes in the bottom of the plastic.

One thing that has worked great for me, are metal CB antenas with a big spring at the base. You don't have to worry about breaking them, and I haven't bent one yet. I did have to cut it down a bit though, cuz every time I came to a sudden stop I would get whapped in the back of the helmet. You can find the spring base at almost any auto parts store, and the antena itself probably at some CB shop. They are about 8ft tall. The only problem is trying to mount a flag on them. There are many ways, but it's not too bad.

I have one that's definetly unique!! I got it from my uncle with the LT250 that I bought from him. Never had a problem with it bending or otherwise but it does whip around a lot going through the trees!!

It's a long stainless whip antenna (Maybe a K-40?? I don't remember what the CB antennas were called). It's got a big spring to mount the antenna to and then it just bolts onto the grab bar.

If I could do something a little different it would be to find some way to keep it from whipping around so much. The darn thing will point straight out in front of me sometimes due to the whip from going under tree branches!!

It's been rolled on several times and it's never ever had a problem with bending or breaking. Dandy setup if you ask me!

My problem isn't the shaft, it is the flags. They aways rip off too quick while in the tree's.

The best flags are at Jim's Sand Toys at Little Sahara, Oklahoma. He has the 5/16" fiberglass with a rubber coating that won't give you splinters and they mount on a steel coil spring. They are guaranteed never to break or he will replace it. I'm sure he could ship them out UPS. He sells them for $18.95.
